Rodrig Thain sul podio del GP del PortogalloCon un clima tipicamente estivo è iniziato il campionato del Mondo enduro 2009 a Penafiel, in Portogallo, nei pressi di Oporto.
Con Micheluz e Kvarnstrom ancora in convalescenza per infortunio, Rodrig Thain è riuscito a difendere i colori del team pesarese in modo egregio portando la sua TM EN 450F ufficiale al terzo posto in classifica nella classe E2.
Grazie al duro lavoro svolto durante l’inverno, Rodrig, è riuscito ad essere competitivo già dalla prima prova speciale dove ha fatto registrare il miglior tempo assoluto. Sempre il lotta per il podio, Thain, è stato penalizzato nella prova “estrema” perdendo secondi importanti ed il contatto con Johny Aubert, vincitore della gara.
Un quarto al Sabato e un terzo la Domenica proiettano Rodrig Thain e la TM al terzo posto della classifica mondiale, a dimostrazione che il binomio italo-francese può puntare in alto.
Ha così commentato Thain a fine gara:
“….dovrei essere molto contento del mio risultato ed invece non lo sono! Non ero a mio agio sull’ extreme test e questo mi ha penalizzato molto, specialmente al Sabato. Comunque guardo avanti, siamo solo all’inizio e sono sicuro del potenziale che io e la mia moto abbiamo…..”.
Buona anche la prova di Luca Cherubini in gara anche lui nella classe E2 con una TM EN 250 2-tempi privata. With a summer typical climate began the Enduro World Championship 2009 in Penafiel, Portugal, around Oporto.
With Micheluz and Kvarnstrom still recovering from an injury, Rodrig Thain was able to defend the colours of the pesarese team in a so excellent way bringing his factory TM EN 450F in a third place in the E2 Class standings.
Thanks to the hard work done during the winter, Rodrig, was able to be competitive right from the first special test where he recorded the quickest overall time. Always on the fight for the podium, Thain, was penalized in the extreme test losing important seconds and the contact with Johny Aubert, winner of the race.
A fourth on Saturday and a third on Sunday allow Rodrig Thain and TM to the third place in the world rankings, demonstrating that the French-Italian duo can fight for the top.
Thain has commented at the end of the race:
".... I should be very happy about my result but I’m not so! I was not at ease on the extreme test and this has affected me very much, especially on Saturday. Anyway I look forward, we are only at the beginning and I am confident of the potential that both me and my bike have ... .. ".
Good race also for Luca Cherubini also him in a E2 class with a private TM EN 250 2-stroke. Twice tenth and ninth in the provisional world rankings are a confirmation of a renewed competitiveness.
