Aigar Leok quarto posto in un mare di fangoLa prima prova del Campionato del Mondo di Motocross MX1 e MX2 2009 è stata all’insegna del maltempo e la pioggia caduta insistentemente già dal Sabato pomeriggio ha trasformato il fantastico circuito di Faenza in un inferno.
Una gara dura per piloti duri, con la seconda manche annullata perché le condizioni del circuito erano diventate proibitive, e il nostro Aigar Leok non ha deluso le aspettative.
Aigar, dodicesimo al Sabato nelle qualificazioni e quinto la Domenica mattina nel warm up, aveva capito di trovarsi a suo agio su questo tipo di terreno e il feeling con la sua TM MX 450F ufficiale era al 100%.
Nella prima manche, l’unica disputata, Leok è riuscito a superare senza problemi il primo giro di gara inserendosi intorno alla decima posizione. Da qui ha iniziato la sua rimonta che lo ha portato al terzo posto, posizione che ha mantenuto per gran parte della gara, cedendo sul finale al Belga De Dycker. Vince suo cugino Tanel Leok, secondo De Dycker davanti a Desalle, quarto il nostro Aigar Leok, ultimo pilota a non essere doppiato, seguito da Tony Cairoli.
Aigar ha detto a fine gara: “….era da molto tempo che non ricordavo una gara così dura. Sono molto contento del mio risultato, forse avrei potuto spingere un po’ di più per salire sul podio ma il rischio di perdere tutto era troppo alto. La mia moto è stata fantastica e adesso guardo avanti con ottimismo……”.
Debutto difficile per il giovane Ceco Martin Michek e la sua nuova TM MX 250F ufficiale. Martin, dopo uno start difficile, ha provato a spingere per recuperare posizioni fino a che non è rimasto bloccato in una morsa di fango e costretto al ritiro.
Ha detto Martin a fine gara: “….oggi le condizioni del circuito erano impossibili ! Ho provato a recuperare posizioni dopo la brutta partenza ma quando sono arrivato su quella salita maledetta non ho avuto molta scelta. Ho preso l’unica traiettoria disponibile rimanendo imprigionato dentro il fango…..”.

Aigar Leok fourth place in a sea of mud
The first round of the Motocross World Championship MX1 and MX2 in 2009 was in a very bad weather conditions and rain that fall insistently since Saturday afternoon has transformed the great circuit of Faenza in a hell.
An hard race for strong riders, where the second moto were cancelled because the conditions of the circuit had become prohibitive, and our Aigar Leok has not disappointed expectations.
Aigar, twelfth on Saturday qualifying race and fifth on Sunday morning warm up, he had understood to be at ease on this kinf of terrain and the feeling with his factory TM MX 450F was at 100%.
In moto one, the only one disputed, Leok has managed to overcome the problems of the first lap being around the tenth position. From here he began his comeback that brought him to third place, a position he has maintained for most of the race, yielding on the final to the Belgian De Dycker.
Vin his cousin Tanel Leok, second De Dycker in front of Desalle, fourth Aigar Leok, the last one not lapped, followed by Tony Cairoli.
Aigar said at the end of the race: ".... It was a long time I didn’t remember a race so hard. I am very happy of my results, maybe I could push a little more to climb on the podium but the risk of losing everything was too high. My bike has been fantastic and now I look in the future with optimism ... .... ".

Martin, after a difficult start in moto one, tried to push to recover positions until he has been locked in a grip of mud and forced to withdraw.
Martin said at the end of the race: ".... Today the conditions of the circuit were impossible! I tried to recover positions after my bad start but when I arrived on that damned climb I had not many choices. I took the only trajectory available and I remained imprisoned in a mud ... .. ".
