Davide "Gozzo" Gozzini wins GP of Italy
Exaggerate, exciting, fantastic…. We do not have enough adjectives to describe this first GP of the season won by our Davide Gozzini.
Although the circuit is not ideal for our TM SMX 660F factory, David has been able to dictate its law, the strongest.
Already fast from Saturday he wins pole position that, as a rule, is called into play Sunday morning with the Super Pole at the end of warm up between riders who go to complete the first row, relegating to second place David just 9 cents from Frenchman Adrien Chareyre, 2007 world champion in S1 class.
The French rider is the most challenging opponent of Gozzini in this first GP.
In Race 1 Gozzini remains somewhat 'closed in the first corners, while the French took the head of the group. Davide begins to recover and at the end of the first round is already in second position behind Chareyre but despite some attempts, realize that having grip troubles and must settle for the second place.
In Race 2 Davide has a hesitation on the start and start little bit late. End of the first lap is in the fourth position while riders in front of him are lengthening. He knows that to win must not lose contact and in the sixth lap can overcome Pignotti and Chareyre launches and pursuit of Minutilli. Six laps from the end manages to overcome Minutilli but he is imitated by Chareyre and began a duel that leaves everyone with breathless. Both David that Adrien know that whoever wins Race 2 win the GP and neither wants to lose. They start to overtake each other at every lap lengthening on the other riders. The "Gozzo" is furious and bruised on his motorcycle, and when he ride like this there is nothing for anyone.
Davide wins Race 2 and GP of Italy and, although equal points with the French, he is the leader of the World Championship and while TM is the provisional leader of the world rankings manufacturers.
Said Davide at the end of race: "…. Unbelievable race!! I worked hard all winter and I wanted to start with the right foot. It is a shame that in Race 1 I have had grip problems otherwise I would have tried to attack the French. I am satisfied with the result, my motorcycle and my team have worked to the perfection……. ".
Good race for Boris Chambon who is finally rediscovering his speed. On Saturday during the time practices he is able to have the eighth time, but on Sunday morning in the warm up he marks the fastest time.
In Race 1 Boris is been hit on the back of his bike and is forced to recover from the latest positions finishing in ninth place while in Race 2 he starts with the top ten and concludes in seventh position very close to his rivals.
Boris said at the end of race: "…. Although the track is not one of my favourites, I am satisfied with how things went. It was almost impossible to overcome here in Turin but I am sure that with faster circuits I can fight for the podium… .. ".
Close to the points area Alex Serafini still influenced by the problems arising from a foot fracture suffered a month ago during a training test.
